1. Don't turn the laptop and XGA on until EVERYTHING is plugged in (including the laptop-to-port cable). Then, turn on the XGA first, immediately followed by the laptop.
2. In Weston Lecture Hall I, use the RED port behind the lecturn at the front of the room. In Weston Lecture Hall II, use the BLUE port on the wall directly ahead of you as you enter the room.
3. When the laptop boots up, first try to open Netscape or Internet Explorer.
4. If it does NOT get a connection, try this: go to START button, go to RUN option, type "winipcfg" and hit return (do NOT type the quotation marks).
5. Hit RELEASE ALL and then RENEW ALL.
6. Hit the RELOAD button on Netscape or the REFRESH button on Internet Explorer. Or, close Netscape or Internet Explorer and and open it again.
7. If it still does not work, go to START BUTTON, go to PROGRAMS option, and select MS DOS PROMPT (or go to START BUTTON, go to RUN option, and type "command" and hit return (do NOT type the quotation marks).
8. Type "ping admin" or "ping tesla" or "ping afs7" or "ping afs4" (do NOT type the quotation marks). We are hoping you will get some kind of a message that says "reply received."
6. Hit the RELOAD button on Netscape or the REFRESH button on Internet Explorer. Or, close Netscape or Internet Explorer and and open it again.
